What we use and why

AI providers and your choice

Hosted OpenAI builds ask for permission before sending the content needed for writing, review and translation to the OpenAI API. Illustration prompts are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI. Supabase stores the private account backup separately. Personal computer-assisted testing uses the connection configured on that computer instead.

You can decline AI preparation and read already prepared material. Withdrawing permission stops new preparation and requests a server stop for hosted work. A provider request already received may finish. Withdrawal does not erase saved chapters or images; deletion is a separate choice. Do not put sensitive personal information about yourself or others in story prompts.

For information about their own processing, see OpenAI, Cloudflare, Supabase and Google, which provides our support inbox. Hosting and provider processing may occur outside your country, including in the United States. The beta has no advertising SDK, real payment processing or sale of personal information.

Private libraries and reusable content

Your private library is scoped to your account. Other readers do not receive it merely because you enabled backup. Reviewed classic-book adaptations and prepared translations can be reused between readers. Distribution of a reader’s private original stories as a shared catalog is disabled in this beta.

Retention and deletion

Your local library stays on your device until you remove it. Cloud libraries remain associated with your account until deletion is completed. Temporary preparation requests and intermediate results are scheduled for cleanup after seven days once the work is no longer active. The cleanup runs periodically; a paused job may need a fresh request after its temporary copy expires. Saved library chapters, pictures and reading positions are separate and are not removed by that cleanup.

Reader-linked operational usage records are removed during account deletion or scheduled for removal after seven days. Anonymous spending totals remain so that cleanup cannot reset the service budget. Minimal deletion markers are retained to reject late background writes and retried requests for a deleted account; they do not contain story text or pictures.

OpenAI’s standard API abuse-monitoring records may be retained for up to 30 days, subject to its policies and applicable exceptions. Provider security records and backups can have separate retention periods. Contact us for the current retention details or a deletion request. Deleting a cloud account does not remotely erase exported files or another device’s offline copy.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or an export of your data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent and complain to your data-protection authority. We verify ownership before releasing private data. In France, you can contact the CNIL.

Where European data-protection law applies, account and requested reading/backup services rely on performing our service agreement; optional AI sharing relies on your permission; limited security and abuse prevention rely on legitimate interests; legally required records rely on legal obligations. We do not use learning scores for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Beta audience and changes

The invited beta is intended for adults aged 18 or older. Report a child’s account or unintended personal-data collection to the contact above. We will update this notice as the service changes and request new permission for material changes to optional AI processing.
